The Daytona 500 is NASCAR's signature event and kicks off the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. The 2013 Daytona 500 is scheduled for February 24, 2013.

The Daytona 500 is viewed by many as the most prestigious individual race on the NASCAR circuit. An interesting element to this race is that it’s also the first race of the season, making it unique from other sports that place their “crown jewel” events at the end of a season.

The benefit to those in attendance is that hope, and energy, springs eternal as all fans are squarely in the “this could be the year” mode. Aside from the actual race, there are events and time trials throughout the week and a Florida location provides excellent beach and golf opportunities.
